What’s For Dinner Tonight? (Ongoing)
Planning and preparing a healthy meal for the family is often something we don’t learn until we have families of our own. But why? Kids who are involved in meal preparation tend to be more open to trying new foods and eat better, healthier meals throughout their lives.
In this class, we will cook dinner together to serve to a family of 4-6 (or we will talk about multiplying recipes for larger families). We will use a variety of different foods and spices in each meal so that kids and their families can try possibly new-to-them foods. We will be sure to talk about covering basic nutritional needs with each meal.
*Students with special dietary restrictions must contact me prior to class begins so we can make the necessary recipe adjustments.
Kids will be using a variety of cooking tools including the stove top and oven, measuring cups and spoons, knives, etc. I will provide a grocery list 1 week before class begins. All ingredients should be easily found at your local grocery store. Basic cooking tools will be needed (i.e. measuring cups/spoons, pots, pans, etc.)
Students must have all the ingredients for the meal for the week.
